UK Colleges Use ZIMS as part of Animal Care and Management programs

Canterbury College (UK) will use LearnZIMS to LearnZIMS to support coursework in animal biology, animal science, and wildlife conservation.

Canterbury College and Coleg Gwent – Newport Campus have joined Species360 as institutional members. The colleges will use the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) to manage the care and welfare of animals in their collections.

Canterbury College (UK) has joined Species360, and will use the educational platform LearnZIMS to support coursework in animal biology, animal science, and wildlife conservation. The college also will use ZIMS to manage its small animal collection. Canterbury is part of the parent organization, EKC Group, which operates 6 community-based colleges.

A sister college, UK-based Hadlow College, has been a Species360 member for over four years and uses ZIMS to support coursework in Zoo Management, Animal Care and Welfare, and Animal Conservation and Biodiversity.

In addition, the Newport Campus of Coleg Gwent, one of the largest educational institutions in Wales, joined Species360 in April. Campus staff and students will use ZIMS as part of its Animal Care and Management resources, providing a platform to monitor animal welfare, better understand norms, and establish best practices in animal record keeping.
